Saturday October 21 : 10am-6pm
We are so excited to hold our first Indigo Dip day and share our Indigo vats with you! Join us at our Oakland studio and we'll guide you through the magical practice of Indigo dyeing.
You'll learn to:
+ Prepare your garments for Indigo
+ Create patterns and textures using Shibori resist techniques
+ Attain different shades of blue through multiple dips
+ Rinse and finish your garments
You'll leave with a few blue pieces to wear or adorn your home with and two very blue hands. (We have gloves if you don't want blue hands)
Bring your own undyed white garments made of cotton, linen, or hemp. These can be new, thrifted, homemade, or something from your closet. (If your garments are new, please bring then pre-washed)
We'll also have undyed organic cotton scarves available for purchase. (Can also be made as a wall hanging)
Each participant will be able to dye up to 3 pieces, depending on weight of garment. Feel free to bring more than three options, and we can help you decide which will dye most successfully.
note: this class will not cover creating the indigo vat.
Wear clothes you don't mind getting stained, and an apron. Bring your own lunch or visit the cafe around the corner.
